Meet our founder, Shelley Cox
Shelley Cox is a passionate entrepreneur with deep roots in the Barossa, South Australia and is the founder of Your Business Compass; a platform designed to empower small businesses with the tools, resources, and guidance they need to thrive.
With her unique regional perspective, Shelley’s goal is to support entrepreneurs not just locally, but globally. Formerly branded as The Regional Collective, Shelley collaborates with a team of experts, known as Compass Guides, to deliver practical, real-world advice to small business owners.
A busy mum of three, a netball enthusiast, and an active community member, Shelley’s entrepreneurial journey started in 2019 when she and her husband, Sam, took the plunge and launched not one, but two regional businesses - Workspace Barossa (a co-working space) and Makers & Merchants Barossa (a retail & e-commerce collective). Then, just as things were getting off the ground, Covid hit—and to top it off, they were expecting their third child. It quickly became a battle for survival, juggling business challenges, family life, and the uncertainty of the pandemic.
Through it all, Shelley had one thing in mind: a strong vision, a relentless work ethic, and a commitment to giving her best. Not everything went according to plan, but the lessons learned from those tough years are exactly what she’s now passing on to others.
