Getting on with it (aka Life as a Business Owner)

Workspace Barossa, our coworking space and first business

getting on with it (aka Life as a Business Owner)...is hard.

What keeps us going? How do we continue to show up, create new things, think strategically and be productive?

Hey there fellow business peeps. I've been a qualified winemaker for 20 years, a business owner for the past 5 years, and a mother to three gorgeous humans over the span of 12 years.

So I carry a lot of understanding and empathy on how hard it is to keep going sometimes.

Hi! I'm Shelley Cox. This is me. Pondering. Drinking Coffee.

"Obviously we each have different drivers towards our ideas of success - but in the past few years I've realised and valued how much the people around us have a huge impact on our thinking, our approach to our work and our capacity to persevere towards our goals."

I've tremendously valued the company, support and inspiration provided by my fellow co-workers here at Workspace Barossa. After all, that is the inspiration behind starting this co-working journey - to connect with others who are like-minded and passionate about #DoingGoodThings with their work & lives.

"I was lonely as a business consultant, some days twiddling my thumbs or just needing a quick chat to someone other than the dogs at home."

Workspace Barossa - before photo. Oh! The POTENTIAL!!!

You know that feeling when the team or group gets together for an exciting brainstorming session or breakthrough strategy meeting? Well, at Workspace Barossa, it's a daily dose of camaraderie and creativity. Our regular networking events bring together professionals from various industries; some are entrepreneurs - others are embracing the hybrid work opportunities from their employers.

We've worked hard not to just create a space. But a community.

In our workshop, meeting, and foyer spaces, industry experts gathered to ignite collaborations, inspire innovations, and foster partnerships. We proudly promoted these events to our community and offered hands-on assistance as needed.

Amidst challenges, our community stood resilient, leveraging our collective strength to navigate the storms together. Let's continue to learn, grow, and support one another as we journeyed through those times.

Our family has also grown in the past 3 years - another lovely curveball!

The best part? Despite the gloomy forecasts, our community thrives, fostering long-lasting partnerships that withstand the toughest of economic downturns.

I am forever grateful to those who have been with me through it all - my dear family, children and hubby Sam, my colleagues and supporters in Angela Pickett, Dan Eggleton, Carly Thompson-Barry, Laura Mudge, Katharine Crane, Brett Grocke, Tania Shirgwin, Steve Lacy, Megan Coles, and our dear friend, the late Chris Rogers. To name a few!

Thank you for your support and shared vision throughout the past 4.5 years 🧡 As well as my family - it's not easy to watch the struggle of doing business, especially when you throw Covid-19 into the mix 8 months after starting out.

But if we can get through that, and still have a smile on our faces; are passionate about what we do and why we do it...we're going ok!

The Workspace Barossa Community has shown us that in unity, we can navigate through difficult times and emerge stronger together.
